Summer Sermon Series:  Family Traditions      We will spend time getting to know an important family from Genesis, beginning with Abram (Abraham) and Sarai (Sarah). We will meet Hagar and her son, Ishmael, then get to know Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, and Esau. What makes this family so important? Starting with Abram, God promises gifts of blessings, land, and children. We’ll look at the family traditions that begin and continue, for better and for worse. We’ll see how these folks lived in relation to God’s promises – and we will consider some of the zany ways they tried to help God out in fulfilling them.  How do these promises of God impact us today? What does it mean to be blessed or to bless others? What family traditions are at work in our lives? Join us this summer as we look to an odd family for clues to help us understand how God’s promises can give meaning to our lives today.
