Community Needs
Snack Sack Ministry
There are children within our community who are hungry and in need of our help. Economically disadvantaged families often struggle to provide food and basic needs for their children. The government free breakfast and lunch program helps during the week, but the time between lunch on Friday and breakfast on Monday morning can be seem terribly long on an empty stomach. We can help by getting involved with the Snack Sack Ministry. Snack Sacks contain nine different kid]friendly snack food items; the average cost per bag is $3 each. Counselors at the different campuses identify students who would benefit most from the ministry. Snack Sacks are delivered to the counselor's office on Thursday, then distributed discreetly to the students on Friday.
In order for us to begin this ministry, we need your pledge to adopt one student per week for the entire school year. If we begin in October, your commitment for the year is $96.00 payable weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually. We also need one or two persons to step forward and serve as coordinators for this ministry.
Training for coordinators and volunteers will be provided. Primary responsibilities include purchasing the snack items, arranging for a monthly Snack Sack packing party, and coordinating volunteers to deliver Snack Sacks to the school/s. Jesus told his disciples to "Feed my sheep."

School Supply Drive Ends Aug. 17
The Northwest ISD Partners in Education (PIE) program estimates that 400 students will need donated school supplies to begin the new school year. In the past two years, more than 700 students were able to hold their heads high because they had a new backpack full of supplies on the first day of school.
Crossroads UMC is one of the district drop-off locations for this year's school supply drive. Your donations will be greatly appreciated! If you wish to volunteer to help organize the supplies for distribution to students, contact Rev. Gillar at 817.313.9466 or email ygillar @gmail.com.
